Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
David Egerton Limited is the data controller for information collected through davidegerton.com. Company Number 13759865. Registered Office: 4 Perry Green, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP2 7NB.
If you have questions about how we handle your data, contact us at david@davidegerton.com.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect personal data in the following ways:
- Contact form: your name, email address, and the message you send us.
- Monthly Insights newsletter: your email address, if you choose to subscribe.
- Website analytics: anonymised data about how visitors use the site (see Section 5).
3. Why We Collect It and Our Legal Basis
We only collect data we have a legitimate reason to hold.
- Contact form enquiries: to respond to your message. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Monthly Insights newsletter: to send you relevant content about The Lockgate Method and advisory services. Legal basis: consent (you opted in).
- Analytics: to understand how the site is being used so we can improve it. Legal basis: consent — analytics cookies are only set if you accept them via our cookie banner (see Sections 5 and 6).
4. What We Do With Your Data
We use your data only for the purpose it was collected. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
We may share data with trusted service providers who help us operate (for example, email platform providers). These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements.
5. Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
This site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-6W21E5FYK7) to collect aggregated information about how visitors use the website — including pages visited, time on site, device type, and general location (country/region level only). IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage and we do not collect names, email addresses or any other directly identifying information through GA4.
We use Google Consent Mode v2. When you first visit the site, all GA4 storage (analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization) is set to denied by default. No analytics or advertising cookies are written and no personal data is sent to Google until you give consent via our cookie banner. If you decline, GA4 receives only cookieless pings that cannot identify you or your device.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer. You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
Google is the data processor for GA4 data. For details on how Google processes this data and the safeguards in place for international transfers, see: policies.google.com/privacy
6. Cookies
We only set non-essential cookies after you accept them via our cookie banner. The cookies used on this site are:
- cookie-consent-v1 (essential, first-party,
localStorage): remembers your cookie choices so the banner isn't shown on every visit. Set regardless of consent because it is strictly necessary to honour your preferences. - _ga (analytics, set by Google, expires after 2 years): distinguishes unique visitors. Only set if you accept analytics cookies.
- _ga_6W21E5FYK7 (analytics, set by Google, expires after 2 years): used by GA4 to persist session state. Only set if you accept analytics cookies.
You can change your choice at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer, or block cookies entirely through your browser settings. Blocking cookies will not affect your ability to use the site.
7. How Long We Keep Your Data
- Contact form enquiries: retained for up to 2 years, then deleted unless we have an ongoing relationship.
- Monthly Insights subscribers: retained until you unsubscribe. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Analytics data: retained by Google Analytics for 26 months (standard setting).
8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (the right to be forgotten).
- Object to or restrict processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time (where consent is the legal basis).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at david@davidegerton.com. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). ico.org.uk | 0303 123 1113
9. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we follow current best practices to minimise risk.
10. Third-Party Links
This site links to external websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. We recommend you review the privacy policy of any site you visit via a link from ours.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices change or when required to reflect new legal obligations. The current version will always be published here with the date at the top.
